</p><p>High intensity interval training is well established as being the superior cardio method to long, slow distance for blasting away fat to achieve your weight loss and ?tness goals.</p>
<p>Not only is it superior for fat loss but it allows you to actually cut your workout times in half, saving you several hours per week to dedicate towards your family, career, and other things that<br />
matter to you.</p>
<p>High intensity intervals can be done, not only in a gym, but as part of your home workout program as well.</p>
<p>Here is an example of a high intensity interval workout:<br />
5 min warm up gradually increasing intensity<br />
15-20 minutes of intervals: 8 seconds at intensity level 8/10 followed by 12 seconds at intensity level 3/10. Repeat.<br />
5 minute cool down at an easy pace</p>
<p>Researchers have used extensive trial and error, actually testing and tweaking various durations of high intensity and recovery intervals to ?nd the optimal workout to achieve the greatest fat</p>
<p>One such research study, published in 2004 entitled, “Oxygen uptake response to high intensity intermittent cycle exercise”, determined that the 8 seconds on, 12 seconds off method was the best work and recovery durations for the highest oxygen uptake and energy expenditure.</p>
<p>Why such short intervals when most of the other trainers out there today are using much longer intervals of 30, 45, or even 60 seconds?</p>
<p>Although we are not 100% sure why these shorter duration, higher intensity intervals work exactly, we have a pretty good guess as to why.</p>
<p>It is speculated by Professor Boutcher, one of the investigators of the study, that this interval duration stimulates the biggest release of substances in your body called catecholamines.<br />
According to Boutcher, “Intermittent sprinting produces high levels of chemical compounds called catecholamines, which allow more fat to be burned from under the skin and within the<br />
exercising muscles. The resulting increase in fat oxidation drives the greater weight loss.”</p>
<p>I believe that catecholamines are not the only substance at work here, but perhaps just one aspect of a “chemical cocktail” of sorts. I believe that growth hormone and lactic acid (both released during high intensity activity) also play a part in fat loss as well, just to name a few.</p>
<p>And one thing to note, this research study was conducted on women, notorious for extra fat in the hips, thighs and belly regions. This method of exercise actually “spot reduced” these<br />
areas with minimal or no changes to the diet. Almost unbelievable!</p>
<p>Here are a few ways you can incorporate high intensity interval training into your workouts:<br />
At the Gym:<br />
• Recumbent bike<br />
• Rowing machine<br />
• Swim sprints<br />
At Home (or Outside):<br />
• Hill running<br />
• Bodyweight cardio<br />
• Kettlebell swings<br />
• Stair running<br />
• Shuttle runs<br />
• Short sprints</p>
<p>Whatever method you choose, just be sure to work hard for 8 seconds followed by a 12 second recovery interval and work up to 20 minutes. Do so and you are sure to achieve the body<br />
transformation you desire in no time!</p>

</p><p>If you have ever watched the television and seen the guy that hold his fat pants out to show how much space he now has in there, then you have probably thought one of the following things.</p>
<p>First why does he still have his fat pants why not donate them to a person who can use them more than just sitting in a closet taking up unnecessary space. Second is it healthy to lose that much weight that quickly? Anyway there is a system out on the market that is called Fit Over 40, and it promises to teach you all the secrets to losing that middle age weight that all men seem prone to.</p>
<p>However there are some things that you need to know about this system. First, it was created by Jon Benson as a way for him to lose 70 pounds at the age of 43. Now there are many systems out on the market that promise to rid you of unwanted weight, however this system is not one of them. Unlike its competitors the Fit Over 40 system leaves a whole lot to the imagination. When you visit the site you are treated to one testimonial and a short write up describing his system. It is not until you go all the way down past the free sign up that you see the link to go to the “real” site. This is misleading as many people will quickly leave the site before they see the small print links, I had to look close just to see them.</p>
<p>The write up is shorter than most letters to your family, and contain absolutely no real detailed information about his program. Only when you go to his actual site do you get a detailed overview of his system. On further review though, you are treated to more testimonials. The link to the actual site is a little more helpful than the first one as it does tend to give you a clearer picture as to the results that you can possibly expect after using the system.</p>
<p>That being said I do have a few bright spots about the site and the system in general. First the system once you get through all of the testimonials does sound like it at least has the potential to be legit. Second the founder of the system does seem to have a wide range of people who support the system. This being said though, I would still save my money and buy something a little more reliable.</p>
<p>I would rate this system with 1 out of 5. The reasons for this are, one you have to look like crazy to find the other link, second you have to wade your way through the testimonial jungle to reach anything of importance. Lastly the site in general is not well designed and appears to be thrown together at the last minute.</p>

It goes into vivid detail on why and how it&#8217;s important to concentrate on losing fat rather than losing weight that could be muscle or even water.</p>
<p>First and foremost, &#8220;Burn the Fat&#8221; is not your run of the mill fitness book; it&#8217;s based on specific principle that completely focuses on losing fat, for good. Like we all know, the many &#8220;lose 20 pounds in a week&#8221; weight loss programs and baseless diets do not give out results on the long term, and are sure to fade off in a short period of time. It isn&#8217;t surprising to know that more than 90% of the people who try and lose weight with such quick fix methods gain it back in no time.</p>
<p>This book breaks all the myths and works on practical grounds by helping you maintain a fit body with effective exercises routines and balanced diet. It explores completely new ideas and helps you let go of your old beliefs that no longer work. For instance, it&#8217;s widely believed that the more you starve your body the more fat you&#8217;ll burn &#8211; Tom shatters this very belief. He teaches you how starving your body of the required calories is wrong, and can bring about negative affects such slow metabolic rate and causing the body to gain energy by burning muscles and storing more fat, which is the opposite of what you want to achieve.</p>
<p>Another important point that Tom touches in his book is &#8211; Weight loss supplements. He shows how the body can get dependant on the use of these supplements in order to retain the weight loss that is caused by raising the metabolic rate and bringing down your hunger. Using these supplements over a long period of time can get your health imbalanced, instead of getting fit. The &#8220;instant weight loss&#8221; products can be tempting, but you&#8217;re better off doing things right, having the appropriate diet and following a strict exercise program. That&#8217;s how you get strong, long term results.</p>
<p>The only negative point about the &#8220;Burn the Fat” book is that it borders on information overload, which might get a little too much to digest for some readers. Even though the info is well structured, you might feel a bit confused and lost due to some things not explained in depth. The book would have been much better if Tom would have made it a bit simpler.</p>
<p>Overall, &#8220;Burn the Fat&#8221; is way ahead of the other books written on the subject of weight loss. If you are willing to sweat it out and give your body what it deserves, get this book. It will help you see beyond the slimming pills and instant fat burning creams.</p>
